About Us

Who We Are

The Friends of the Belmont Library are a non-profit organization that brings together people who view their local library as a treasury of knowledge, information, and entertainment.

Friends of the Belmont Library is a tax deductible, charitable organization whose mission is to promote community support and use of the Belmont Library. Since its inception in 1974, Friends of the Belmont Library has raised money through membership and book sales to sponsor library programs and cultural events for children and adults. Membership dues also pay for materials and equipment not supplied by the library budget. During the construction of the new Belmont library, Friends of the Belmont Library raised over $370,000 for furnishing the new library. The money was used for a $160,000 state-of the art sorting machine, check-out counters, and computers.

How can you help?

You can join and become a member of Friends of the Belmont Library. You can also support Friends by shopping for gently used books at the “Book Nook” located in Twin Pines Park or at the “Friends Store” located at the library. You can donate your gently used books, videos, DVDs, and other reading materials to Friend of the Belmont Library. And you can volunteer your time and talents. The Friends are always looking for new board members and volunteers. Finally please consider donations, monetary, bequests, or endowments.
