Friends of the Belmont Library

P. O. Box 826
Belmont, CA 94002

Our Volunteers

We salute our volunteers. Volunteer opportunities will increase and change as the plans for a new Belmont Library come to fruition. We will keep you abreast of these changes and of events relating to your interests.

Fundraising for the New Library

The April, 2004 Staff Report on the New Belmont Library states that in addition to the outlined budget for the New Library, "an additional $650,000 is needed in fundraising to cover bid alternatives, technology and funrnishings, and fixture upgrades."

To fill this need, a group of citizens calling themselves the Furnish Our Belmont Library Committee is hard at work raising these necessary funds. The Friends of the Belmont Library are acting as the financial arm of the "Furnish Our Belmont Library" Committee to raise $350,000 of these funds. Thus donations will be collected in the name of the "Friends of the Belmont Library", but they are marked for the purposes of the "Furnish Our Belmont Library Committee".

Latest Fundraising Efforts

We are proud to announce our "Counter" now tells us that as of January 3, 2006, The New Library has received $340,600 in donations from the Furnish Our New Belmont Library Committee. Thank you, One and All!

The "Furnish Our Belmont Library Committee" began its fundraising effort on April 18, 2004. We very much hope you will be part of this effort. A special "donations/help" form can be submitted to us through this web site. We hope you will use it soon. Please Click on link to access and use the Donation/Help Form.

Volunteers Make It Happen

Pat Callaway - Our Featured Book Nook Volunteer

Our featured volunteer is Pat Callaway. Pat is a native of London. She came to San Francisco in 1965, looking for fun and adventure. She finally found her "fun and adventure" when she joined our Book Nook staff three years ago after retiring from Visa as an executive assistant.

Throughout her tenure she has scheduled volunteers and cashiered during sale days as well as volunteering for special events and creating new processes for the Library and Book Nook that make them run even more smoothly.

Pat and husband Charlie have two daughters and four grandchildren, and have lived in the same house in Belmont for 32 years. She and Charlie have traveled throughout the United States as well as Europe, Australia, and Tahiti.

Pat enjoys water aerobics, line dancing, and knitting baby clothes that she sells at the San Carlos Senior Center. She says she enjoys books and meeting people and the book nook is a great place for both interests.

Volunteer at the Book Nook

Volunteering at the Book Nook is a pleasant experience. Enjoy the outdoors, make new acquaintances, and engage in relaxed conversation with customers and friends.

We need volunteers for 2 hour sessions during sale hours.
